Blow your nose gently, one nostril at a time
Use saline nasal spray or saline rinse
Inhale steam from a warm shower or bowl of hot water
Drink plenty of fluids
Use a humidifier or vaporizer
Sleep with your head elevated
Avoid smoke, dust, and strong odors
Try a warm compress over your nose and sinuses
Use over-the-counter decongestants if appropriate
Use antihistamines if allergies are causing congestion
Rest and allow time for the congestion to pass
Seek medical care if symptoms are severe, persistent, or worsening
