Choose a strong, healthy tree with low, sturdy branches
Check the ground around the tree for hazards

Test each branch before putting full weight on it
Use both hands and both feet for support
Keep your body close to the trunk
Move slowly and deliberately
Climb only as high as you can safely manage
Avoid dead, weak, or slippery branches
Do not climb during rain, wind, or storms
Have someone nearby if possible
Descend carefully using the same route
Stop immediately if you feel unstable or unsafe
