Test and balance the water chemistry

Clean the pool thoroughly
Vacuum the pool
Brush the walls and floor
Lower the water level as required
Drain and store pool equipment
Remove ladders, handrails, and accessories
Backwash and clean the filter
Add winterizing chemicals
Blow out and plug the plumbing lines
Drain the pump, filter, heater, and chlorinator
Install winter plugs and gizmos
Cover the pool securely
Secure the cover against wind and debris
Turn off power to pool equipment
Store chemicals and accessories properly
