Do not delete messages, accounts, or files related to the incident
Report the incident to your bank, payment app, or card issuer immediately if money is involved
Change passwords for affected accounts and enable two-factor authentication
File a complaint on the national cybercrime reporting portal of your country
Visit the nearest police station or cybercrime cell and submit a written complaint
Include your full name, contact details, incident date and time, platform used, and a clear description of the crime
Attach copies of all evidence with the complaint
Mention any financial loss, account compromise, threats, harassment, or identity theft
Request an acknowledgement or complaint reference number
Follow up regularly with the cybercrime cell or investigating officer
If the crime involves online fraud, inform your bank and freeze suspicious transactions
If the crime involves social media abuse, report the account on the platform and preserve the profile link
If the crime involves hacking, disconnect affected devices from the internet and scan for malware
If the crime involves blackmail or extortion, do not pay and preserve all communication
If the crime involves child sexual abuse material, report it immediately to cybercrime authorities
Keep copies of every submission and response for future reference
