Turn on the Xbox console
Insert batteries into the Xbox remote
Press and hold the Xbox button on the remote
Press and hold the Pair button on the Xbox console
Wait for the Xbox button on the remote to flash and stay lit
Release both buttons when the remote connects
Test the remote by pressing a button or moving the thumbsticks
If needed, connect the remote with a USB cable and press the Xbox button
If needed, use the Xbox Accessories app to update the remote firmware
