Choose a location with adequate sunlight and level ground
Measure and mark the desired box dimensions
Select rot-resistant lumber or suitable garden box material
Cut the boards to the required lengths
Assemble the frame using screws or exterior-grade fasteners
Check that corners are square and the frame is level
Place the box in the chosen location
Remove grass, weeds, and debris from inside the box area
Add a weed barrier if desired
Fill the box with soil or a soil mix
Water the soil to settle it
Plant seeds or seedlings as needed
Install edging, stakes, or supports if required
Maintain by watering, weeding, and replenishing soil as needed
