Use clean, sharp scissors or pruning shears
Choose a stem with several sets of leaves
Cut just above a leaf node
Leave at least two sets of leaves on the plant
Harvest from the top first to encourage bushier growth
Avoid cutting more than one-third of the plant at a time
Remove flower buds if they appear
Cut stems in the morning for best flavor
Rinse and dry the cut basil if needed
Repeat regular light harvesting to keep the plant productive
