Draw a straight line using a ruler
Mark a point outside the line
Place a set square with one edge along the line
Hold a ruler firmly against the set square
Slide the set square along the ruler until it reaches the marked point
Draw a line through the marked point along the edge of the set square
Verify the new line never meets the original line
