Rest and avoid strenuous activity
Drink plenty of fluids such as water, soup, or oral rehydration solutions
Wear lightweight clothing
Keep the room comfortably cool
Use a lukewarm sponge bath if needed
Take acetaminophen or ibuprofen as directed on the label
Avoid alcohol
Do not use cold baths or ice water
Do not bundle up in heavy blankets
Monitor temperature regularly
Seek medical help if fever is very high, lasts more than a few days, or comes with severe symptoms
