Rest and avoid strenuous activity
Drink plenty of fluids such as water, oral rehydration solution, clear soups, or diluted juice
Wear light, breathable clothing
Keep the room cool and well ventilated
Use a lukewarm sponge bath if needed
Take acetaminophen or ibuprofen as directed on the label, if safe for you
Avoid aspirin in children and teenagers
Monitor temperature regularly
Eat light, easy-to-digest foods if tolerated
Seek medical care if fever is very high, lasts more than 3 days, or comes with trouble breathing, confusion, stiff neck, rash, seizures, or severe weakness
