Add a small amount of water to the pan
Heat over medium heat
Cover the pan
Cook for 10 to 12 minutes, turning occasionally
Remove the lid and let the water evaporate
Add a little oil or butter if needed
Brown the bratwurst on all sides over medium to medium-high heat
Cook until the internal temperature reaches 160°F
Remove from the pan and let rest briefly
Serve hot
