How To Cook Arepas?

Mix 2 cups pre-cooked cornmeal with 2 1/2 cups warm water and 1 teaspoon salt

Stir until combined and let rest 5 minutes

Knead until smooth and not sticky

Divide into equal portions

Shape each portion into a thick disk

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly oil it

Cook arepas 5 to 7 minutes per side until golden

Transfer to a 350°F oven for 10 to 15 minutes if you want a fully cooked center

Split open and fill or serve plain
