Add chicken broth or water to cover the ingredients
Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours
Remove the chicken and shred it with two forks
Return the shredded chicken to the crock pot
Add noodles, rice, or potatoes if desired
Cook until the noodles, rice, or potatoes are tender
Taste and adjust seasoning as needed
Serve hot
