Choose pork chops that are at least 1 inch thick
Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels
Season both sides with salt, pepper, and any preferred spices
Let the pork chops sit at room temperature for 15 to 20 minutes
Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat
Add a small amount of oil to the skillet
Sear the pork chops for 3 to 4 minutes per side
Reduce the heat to medium or medium-low
Cook until the internal temperature reaches 145°F
Remove the pork chops from the pan
Let them rest for 5 minutes before serving
