Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs
Pat the ribs dry
Season both sides with salt, pepper, and your preferred dry rub
Cut the rack into sections if needed to fit in the slow cooker
Add a small amount of liquid to the crock pot such as broth, water, apple juice, or barbecue sauce
Place the ribs upright around the inside of the crock pot or lay them in layers
Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours
Check that the ribs are tender and fully cooked
Transfer the ribs to a baking sheet if you want them browned
Brush with barbecue sauce if desired
Broil or bake for a few minutes until the sauce caramelizes
Let the ribs rest for a few minutes before serving
