Keep tamales in their husks
Do not thaw before cooking
Steam in a steamer basket over simmering water
Arrange tamales upright with open ends facing up
Cover tightly with a lid
Steam frozen tamales for 45 to 60 minutes
Check water level occasionally and add hot water if needed
Test one tamale by opening the husk to see if the masa is firm and separates easily from the husk
If not fully cooked, steam for 10 to 15 minutes more
Remove and let rest for a few minutes before serving
