How to Cornrow Your Own Hair?

Start with clean, detangled, slightly damp hair

Gather a rat-tail comb, clips, edge brush, spray bottle, and styling product

Part your hair into the section you want to braid

Clip away the rest of your hair

Apply a small amount of product to the section

Comb through to make the hair smooth

Divide the section into three equal strands at the hairline

Hold the left strand, middle strand, and right strand separately

Cross the right strand under the middle strand

Cross the left strand under the new middle strand

Add a small amount of hair from the scalp to the right strand before crossing it under

Add a small amount of hair from the scalp to the left strand before crossing it under

Continue alternating sides and adding hair as you braid back along the scalp

Keep the braid close to the scalp

Maintain even tension while braiding

Use your fingers to separate and control the strands as needed

Continue until you reach the nape or the end of the section

Finish the braid with a regular three-strand braid

Secure the end with a small elastic or by tucking it in

Repeat for the remaining sections

Smooth the parts and edges as needed

Sleep with a satin scarf or bonnet to help preserve the style
