Keep the area clean and dry
Apply warm compresses for 10–15 minutes, 3–4 times a day
Do not squeeze, prick, or massage the boil
Wash hands before and after touching the area
Use an antiseptic wash if advised by a doctor
Cover the boil with a clean sterile bandage if it is draining
Take over-the-counter pain relief if needed and safe for you
See a doctor if the boil is large, very painful, recurrent, or not improving
Seek medical care urgently if you have fever, spreading redness, or multiple boils
Get the boil drained by a healthcare professional if required
Take prescribed antibiotics exactly as directed if given
Manage diabetes or other conditions that may slow healing
Avoid sharing towels, razors, or clothes until healed
