There is no safe or reliable way to cure bacterial vaginosis (BV) in one day
See a clinician for treatment options
Take prescribed antibiotics exactly as directed:
Metronidazole (oral or vaginal)
Clindamycin (vaginal cream or oral)
Avoid douching
Avoid scented soaps, vaginal washes, and wipes in the vulvar/vaginal area
Use condoms during treatment to reduce irritation and reinfection risk
Avoid sex only if your clinician advises it during treatment, or if symptoms worsen with sex
Contact a clinician urgently if you are pregnant, have pelvic/lower abdominal pain, fever, or unusual bleeding
If symptoms don’t improve within about 2–3 days of starting treatment, or don’t resolve after completing it, follow up for reassessment and possible testing
If BV keeps returning, ask about repeat testing and a prevention plan (including possible longer or suppressive regimens)
