Use clean, sharp scissors or pruning shears
Wait until the plant has at least 6 to 8 sets of leaves
Find a stem with a pair of leaves
Cut just above a leaf node
Remove the top 1 to 2 inches of the stem
Leave at least 2 to 3 sets of leaves on each stem
Cut multiple stems to encourage bushier growth
Remove any flower buds as soon as they appear
Trim no more than one-third of the plant at a time
Harvest regularly to keep the plant compact
Water the plant after pruning if the soil is dry
Avoid cutting into woody lower stems
Pinch new growth tips often to maintain shape
