Identify the capped end of the cigar
Cut only the cap, not the body
Place the cigar in the cutter just above the shoulder
Make a quick, clean cut
Avoid cutting too deep
Check the cut for a smooth opening
Remove any loose tobacco if needed
Use a punch cutter by pressing it into the cap and twisting
Use a V-cut by aligning the cap and pressing the cutter firmly
Cut slowly and carefully to prevent cracking the wrapper
