Open WhatsApp
Go to the Chats tab
Tap the contact’s chat
Tap the contact name at the top
Tap Edit or the three-dot menu
Select View in address book or Edit contact
Delete the contact from your phone’s contacts
Return to WhatsApp
Refresh your contacts list
If needed, block the contact from the chat or contact info screen
