Turn on paragraph marks with Ctrl+Shift+8 or Home > Show/Hide
Place the cursor just before the section break
Press Delete
If that does not work, place the cursor just after the section break
Press Backspace
In Word, use Find and Replace with ^b to locate section breaks
Replace the section break with nothing
Save the document
