Keep children, pets, and bystanders away from the area

Treat the nest only at night or very early morning when yellow jackets are least active

Wear full protective clothing, including long sleeves, long pants, gloves, boots, and a face covering

Use a commercial aerosol or dust labeled for yellow jackets and ground nests

Stand at a safe distance and apply the product directly into the nest entrance

Follow the product label exactly for amount, timing, and reapplication

Do not block, plug, or cover the nest entrance before treatment

After treatment, wait at least 24 hours before approaching the nest

Check for activity from a distance before disturbing the area

Repeat treatment only if the label allows and activity remains

Once all activity has stopped, seal or fill the entrance if appropriate

Remove food sources and trash nearby to prevent future nesting

If the nest is large, hard to access, or near a structure, call a licensed pest control professional

If anyone is allergic to stings, do not attempt removal and call a professional immediately
