Use a flexible measuring tape
Measure around your waist where you wear the belt
Measure over the clothing you normally wear
Note the measurement in inches or centimeters
Choose a belt size 1 to 2 inches larger than your waist measurement
If between sizes, select the larger size
Check the brand’s sizing chart before buying
For an existing belt, measure from the buckle to the hole you use most
For a dress belt, measure your waist; for a pants belt, measure your belt loop area
Verify the belt size against your pant size if no measuring tape is available
