Factory reset the laptop
Encrypt or securely erase the drive if possible
Remove the battery if it is detachable and required by local recycling rules
Check local e-waste recycling options
Drop it off at an authorized electronics recycling center
Use the manufacturer’s take-back or trade-in program
Donate it only if it still works and is safe to use
Dispose of damaged batteries separately at a battery recycling facility
Follow local laws for electronic waste disposal
