Preheat the grill to medium heat
Pat the chicken dry
Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and your preferred spices
Brush the chicken lightly with oil
Place the chicken on the grill over indirect heat
Close the lid and cook until the chicken is nearly done
Turn the chicken occasionally for even cooking
Brush barbecue sauce on the chicken during the last 10 to 15 minutes
Continue grilling until the sauce is caramelized and the chicken is fully cooked
Check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F
Remove the chicken from the grill
Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving
