Gather embroidery fabric, embroidery hoop, needles, thread, scissors, and a pattern
Cut the fabric larger than the hoop
Place the fabric in the hoop and tighten it
Thread the needle with embroidery floss
Tie a knot at the end of the thread
Start from the back of the fabric
Bring the needle up through the fabric at the starting point
Use a basic stitch such as backstitch, running stitch, satin stitch, or stem stitch
Keep stitches even and follow the pattern
Bring the needle back down through the fabric to make each stitch
Continue stitching until the design is complete
Secure the thread on the back with a knot or by weaving it under stitches
Remove the fabric from the hoop
Trim any excess thread
Press the finished embroidery if needed
