Find the molar mass of each element in the compound
Multiply each element’s molar mass by the number of atoms of that element in the formula
Add all of the element masses to get the total molar mass of the compound
Divide each element’s total mass by the compound’s total molar mass
Multiply each result by 100 to get the percent composition of each element
Check that all percentages add up to 100%
