Spoon off the excess fat with a spoon
Push the beef to one side and pour the fat into a heat-safe container
Use a colander or fine-mesh strainer to drain the beef
Line a plate with paper towels and transfer the beef to absorb remaining grease
Press gently with paper towels to remove extra fat
Return the drained beef to the skillet if needed
Dispose of the fat in a safe container after it cools
