How To Draw A Head?

Draw a light oval for the skull

Add a vertical centerline from top to bottom

Add a horizontal guideline across the middle (eye line)

Sketch a smaller guideline for the jaw/chin area below the eye line

Lightly block in the cheekbones using angled lines from the eye line toward the jaw

Define the jawline with two curves converging toward the chin

Draw the chin shape with a slight taper from the jaw

Place the brow line slightly above the eye line

Draw the eye sockets along the eye line (almond shapes)

Add the nose bridge from the brow line down toward the mid-face

Mark the nose tip and nostrils with simple shapes

Place the mouth line halfway between the nose base and chin

Draw the lips with a curved upper lip and a slightly fuller lower lip

Indicate the ears between the brow line and the base of the nose

Add the hairline on top of the skull (slightly above the brow line)

Refine the forehead slope and temples with smoother curves

Adjust proportions: eyes spaced about one eye-width apart

Erase construction lines lightly

Add planes and shading using simple light/dark areas (forehead, cheeks, jaw, under chin)

Strengthen outlines where form turns (jaw, cheek, brow ridge, nose edges)

Clean up the drawing and darken final lines
