If Find My iPad is enabled, you cannot fully remove Activation Lock without the Apple ID password
If you know the iPad passcode, go to Settings
Tap General
Tap Transfer or Reset iPad
Tap Erase All Content and Settings
Enter the iPad passcode if prompted
If asked for the Apple ID password, the reset will not complete without it when Activation Lock is enabled
If you do not know the passcode, put the iPad into Recovery Mode
Connect the iPad to a Mac or PC
Open Finder on Mac or iTunes on Windows or older macOS
Force restart the iPad to enter Recovery Mode
When the computer shows Restore or Update, choose Restore
Wait for the restore to finish
If Activation Lock appears after restore, enter the Apple ID and password previously linked to the iPad
If you bought the iPad secondhand, ask the previous owner to remove it from their Apple ID at iCloud.com/find or in Find My
If you are the original owner and forgot the Apple ID password, reset it at iforgot.apple.com
If you cannot access the Apple ID, contact Apple Support with proof of purchase
