How To Feed A Newborn Baby?

Wash your hands before feeding

Hold the baby in a safe, supported position

Feed breast milk or formula only

Feed on demand when the baby shows hunger cues

Offer the breast or bottle every 2 to 3 hours, or as needed

Make sure the baby latches well if breastfeeding

Keep the bottle nipple filled with milk to reduce air intake

Burp the baby during and after feeding

Watch for signs of fullness and stop when the baby is done

Keep the baby upright for a short time after feeding

Never prop a bottle or leave the baby unattended while feeding

Follow your pediatrician’s advice for feeding amounts and schedule

Seek medical help if the baby has trouble feeding, vomits often, or has fewer wet diapers than expected
