Multiply the decimal by the whole amount

To find what percent one number is of another, divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100
Formula: percent = part ÷ whole × 100
Example: 10 is what percent of 50? 10 ÷ 50 × 100 = 20%
To find the whole when you know the part and percent, divide the part by the decimal form of the percent
Formula: whole = part ÷ percentage decimal
Example: 10 is 20% of what number? 10 ÷ 0.20 = 50
