Find the midpoint of each non-parallel side, called the legs
Draw the segment connecting the two midpoints
The segment connecting the midpoints is the midsegment
Use the midsegment formula: midsegment = (base1 + base2) / 2
If the lengths of the bases are known, add them and divide by 2 to get the midsegment length
