Make a frequency table
Add the frequencies progressively
Record each running total as the cumulative frequency
For less-than cumulative frequency, keep adding from the smallest value upward
For more-than cumulative frequency, keep adding from the largest value downward
Check that the final cumulative frequency equals the total number of observations
