Measure the wall space and mark the shelf position
Locate wall studs using a stud finder
Mark stud centers with a pencil
Hold the shelf bracket or mounting template against the wall
Use a level to ensure the shelf line is straight
Mark the drill points through the bracket holes
Drill pilot holes at the marked points
Insert wall plugs if not fixing into studs
Align the bracket with the holes
Screw the bracket firmly into the wall
Check that the bracket is level and secure
Slide or place the floating shelf onto the bracket
Secure the shelf to the bracket if required
Test the shelf for stability before loading items
