Wash and dry the area thoroughly
Remove dirt, wax, and loose paint around the chip
Lightly sand the chipped area with fine-grit sandpaper
Wipe the area clean with rubbing alcohol or a prep solvent
Apply rust remover if any metal is exposed and rusted
Use touch-up primer on bare metal if needed
Shake the touch-up paint well
Apply thin layers of matching touch-up paint with a fine brush or applicator
Let each coat dry before applying the next
Build up the paint until it is level with the surrounding surface
Apply clear coat if the paint system requires it
Let the repair cure fully
Wet sand lightly if needed to smooth the finish
Polish the area to blend the repair with the surrounding paint
Apply wax after the repair has fully cured
