Use warm water
Tilt your head over a sink
Gently pull the outer ear up and back
Use a rubber bulb syringe
Squeeze a small stream of water into the ear canal
Let the water and wax drain out
Repeat gently if needed
Dry the outer ear with a clean towel
Use over-the-counter ear drops to soften wax first if needed
Stop if you feel pain, dizziness, or hearing loss
Do not use cotton swabs or sharp objects
See a doctor if the blockage does not clear or if you have ear infection symptoms
