How To Flush Power Steering Fluid?

Park on a level surface and let the engine cool

Gather the correct power steering fluid, drain pan, funnel, rags, and basic hand tools

Raise the front of the vehicle if needed and secure it with jack stands

Locate the power steering reservoir, return hose, and any drain access points

Remove the reservoir cap

Siphon or drain out as much old fluid from the reservoir as possible

Disconnect the return hose from the reservoir and direct it into a drain pan

Cap or plug the reservoir port

Fill the reservoir with fresh power steering fluid

Turn the steering wheel slowly from lock to lock with the engine off to push old fluid out

Keep adding fresh fluid so the reservoir does not run dry

Continue until clean fluid exits the return hose

Reconnect the return hose securely

Refill the reservoir to the proper level

Start the engine and turn the steering wheel slowly from lock to lock

Check for leaks and top off the fluid as needed

Recheck the fluid level after a short drive

Dispose of used fluid properly
