Contact each credit bureau separately: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion
Create or log in to your online account with each bureau
Request a security freeze on your credit report
Verify your identity using the required personal information
Save the PIN, password, or confirmation number provided
Freeze any minor child credit reports if needed
Freeze reports with any additional bureaus if applicable, such as ChexSystems or Innovis
Unfreeze or temporarily lift the freeze when applying for credit
Keep your freeze credentials in a secure place
Check that the freeze is active on all three reports
