Bring the needle up through the fabric at the knot position
Hold the working thread taut with your non-dominant hand
Wrap the thread around the needle 1 to 3 times
Keep the wraps snug and close to the needle
Insert the needle back into the fabric very near the starting point
Hold the wraps in place as you pull the needle through
Pull the thread through slowly until the knot forms on the fabric surface
Repeat for additional French knots
