Do not try to make a dog vomit without first contacting a veterinarian or poison control

Do not induce vomiting if the dog is unconscious, having seizures, struggling to breathe, or very weak
Do not induce vomiting if the dog swallowed a sharp object, corrosive chemical, or petroleum product
Do not give salt, syrup, mustard, oil, or any home remedy
Do not use hydrogen peroxide unless a veterinarian specifically tells you to do so
Keep the dog calm and prevent further eating or drinking until you get instructions
Have the dog’s weight, what was swallowed, and when it was swallowed ready to report
Seek emergency veterinary care right away if the dog shows distress, drooling, vomiting, tremors, or collapse
