Gather proof of ownership, such as a signed title, bill of sale, or manufacturer’s certificate of origin
Complete Form 130-U, Application for Texas Title and/or Registration
Obtain a vehicle inspection if required
Get proof of insurance
Visit your county tax assessor-collector’s office
Submit the completed application, proof of ownership, inspection documents, and insurance
Pay the title and registration fees, plus any applicable taxes
Provide a lien release if there was a previous lien on the vehicle
Apply for a bonded title if you do not have the proper ownership documents
Receive the Texas title by mail after processing
