Blot up any fresh urine immediately with paper towels or a clean cloth
Clean the area with a damp cloth and a hardwood-safe enzymatic cleaner
Avoid soaking the floor with water or cleaner
Wipe dry right away with a clean towel
Repeat the enzymatic cleaner treatment if the smell remains
For sealed hardwood, use a slightly damp cloth with diluted white vinegar, then dry immediately
For unsealed or damaged wood, use only minimal moisture and a wood-safe enzymatic cleaner
Sprinkle baking soda on the dry area and leave it for several hours, then vacuum it up
Place a fan near the area to help it dry completely
Sand and refinish the affected boards if the odor has soaked into the wood
Replace boards if the urine has penetrated deeply and the smell will not come out
