Be at least 18 years old, or have required parental/judicial consent if under 18
Apply for a New York State marriage license together
Bring valid photo identification and proof of age
Provide any required documents if previously married, such as divorce decree, annulment papers, or death certificate
Pay the marriage license fee
Wait at least 24 hours after the license is issued before marrying, unless a waiver is granted
Use the license within 60 days, or 180 days if one party is active-duty military
Have the marriage ceremony performed by an authorized officiant
Have at least one witness present at the ceremony
Ensure the officiant and witness sign the marriage license
Return the completed license to the issuing city or town clerk within the required time
Obtain certified copies of the marriage certificate from the clerk if needed
