Take the fabric outside and brush off any loose mold
Wear gloves and a mask
Wash the fabric in hot water if the care label allows
Add detergent and white vinegar or oxygen bleach if safe for the fabric
Soak the fabric in a vinegar or oxygen bleach solution before washing
Scrub stained areas gently with a soft brush
Rinse thoroughly
Dry the fabric completely in direct sunlight if possible
Repeat the process if mold remains
Use chlorine bleach only on bleach-safe fabrics
Do not put moldy fabric in the dryer before the mold is removed
Store the fabric only when it is fully dry
