Be at least 15 years old
Complete a Texas motorcycle safety course approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
Get a completion certificate from the course
Gather required documents:
Proof of identity
Proof of Texas residency
Social Security number
Proof of lawful presence in the U.S.
Apply for a Texas learner license or motorcycle permit at a Texas DPS office
Pass the required vision test
Pass the written knowledge test if required
Pay the required fee
If under 18, have parental or guardian permission
If under 18, hold the permit and follow all restrictions until eligible for a motorcycle license
If 18 or older, apply directly for a motorcycle license after meeting the requirements
