Scrape off any excess polish with a dull knife or spoon
Place a clean paper towel or cloth under the stain
Test the fabric on a hidden area first
Dab the stain with acetone-based nail polish remover using a cotton ball or cloth
Blot gently from the outside of the stain inward
Replace the paper towel under the stain as it absorbs polish
Rinse the area with cold water
Apply liquid laundry detergent or dish soap to the stain
Gently rub the fabric together or use a soft brush
Wash the clothing according to the care label
Check that the stain is gone before drying
Repeat the process if needed before using heat
Use non-acetone remover for delicate fabrics if acetone is unsafe
Take dry-clean-only items to a professional cleaner
