Take pain relief medicine if needed and safe for you
Avoid biting the inside of your mouth
Manage stress and get enough sleep
Check for sharp teeth, braces, or dentures that may irritate the ulcer
See a doctor or dentist if ulcers last more than 2 weeks
See a doctor or dentist if ulcers are frequent, very large, or very painful
Seek medical care if you have fever, trouble swallowing, or weight loss
